The vessel's direct involvement in the Nord Stream 2 project has not been documented. At the same time, the vessel was in the Baltic Sea at the end of March 2021 with its AIS switched off and could have been the vessel that the Murman, involved in the construction of Nord Stream 2, met, making unexplained turns.
In August 2021, the United States imposed sanctions on the vessel in connection with its assistance in the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project.
The support vessel is one of a number of vessels in the russian Maritime Rescue Service fleet equipped with the Dynpos-2 class dynamic positioning system.
