The Syrian General Authority for Maritime Transport is a government agency whose tasks include drawing up general policy for the state’s navigational planning, supporting maritime navigation and maritime transport by all available means, and expressing opinion on draft laws and decisions related to navigation and maritime transport. The General Authority reports to the Ministry of Transportation and has two agencies, the Latakia Port Authority and the Tartous Port Authority.
