Descriptions

Seyyed Ahmad Khatami est un membre du clergé partisan de la ligne dure et un imam influent à la prière du vendredi à Téhéran. Khatami est également membre de l’Assemblée d’experts, une entité iranienne qui, en soi, est impliquée dans des violations des droits de l’homme en raison du peu de cas qu’elle fait du respect des dispositions constitutionnelles. En tant que membre du clergé proche des autorités de l’État et disposant d’un large public, il use de sa position pour s’en prendre verbalement aux manifestants et inciter à la violence contre ceux-ci. Non seulement il défend les actions répressives menées par les forces de sécurité iraniennes, mais il a également demandé à plusieurs reprises que les manifestants fassent l’objet d’un traitement encore plus sévère, notamment la peine capitale. Il est donc responsable de graves violations des droits de l’homme en Iran.
