In 2020, the U.S. state of Mississippi listed AK Makina on its state lists of Companies Doing Business with the Iranian Petroleum/Natural Gas, Nuclear and Military Sectors, rendering ADKL ineligible for investment and/or state contracting. A leaked US diplomatic cable shows that Ak Makina has been attempting to export machinery to an Iranian company, Shahid Hemmat Industrial Group, that has been developing a liquid missile propellant for the Iranian nuclear program.
