General Organization for Refining and Distribution of Petroleum Products (GORDPP)

The General Organization for Refining and Distribution of Petroleum Products (GORDPP) is a public institution tasked with proposing strategies related to oil refining, petrochemical industries, and distribution of oil products and others. One of the Organization’s tasks is to propose strategies related to oil refining, the petrochemical industry and the distribution of oil derivatives, including the uses of natural gas in vehicles and housing. It works to establish new refineries, and prepare, develop and update agreements with the aim of attracting investors, in addition to coordinating with Arab and international authorities. It is also tasked with keeping up with modern scientific and technological developments in the field of oil refining and the distribution of oil derivatives and assessing the environmental impact of its activities and projects in coordination with other parties and working to minimize the damage they create. Several companies are owned by the corporation, namely: the General Company for Homs Refinery, the Banias Refinery Company, and the Syrian Petroleum Company. The General Organization for Refining and Distribution of Petroleum Products (GORDPP) is sanctioned by the US.
