Branch 221 - Military Intelligence

Branch 221 is the Military Intelligence branch of Palmyra. It has ad hoc departments at district level and ad hoc detachments at subdistrict level. The Palmyra branch was mentioned in the US sanctions list on 28 July 2021 because of the crimes and violations committed therein, including killing, torturing, burning, and crucifying detainees during the tenure of Brigadier General Malik Ali Habib. The latter gave orders to release certificates stating that prisoners died of natural causes, such as stroke and kidney failure.

فرع المخابرات العسكرية في تدمر. يتبع له حسب الحاجة أقسام على مستوى المناطق ومفارز على مستوى النواحي. ورد ضمن قائمة العقوبات الأميركية في 28.07.2021 بسبب الجرائم والانتهاكات التي ارتكبها فرع تدمر، بما في ذلك قتل المعتقلين وتعذيبهم وحرقهم وصلبهم خلال فترة رئاسة "العميد مالك علي حبيب" للفرع، والذي بدوره أمر بإصدار شهادات تقول ان وفاة المعتقلين حدثت لأسباب طبيعية، مثل السكتة الدماغية والفشل الكلوي.
