The Syrian Arab Air Force is the aviation branch of the Syrian Armed Forces. It is deemed one of the largest air forces in the entire Arab world, with approximately 900 aircraft (four-fifths of which are planes, and the rest are helicopters). Their primary source is the former Soviet Union, currently Russia. They are put on the US sanctions list.
