المدير السابق لمديرية الأمن السياسي في درعا. فرض الاتحاد الأوروبي عليه عقوبات لتورطه في أعمال العنف ضد المتظاهرين في الانتفاضة السورية. تتهمه المعارضة السورية بإهانة مجموعة من وجهاء وأهالي مدينة درعا الذين قدموا ليطالبوا بإطلاق سراح مجموعةٍ من الأطفال الذين كتبوا عبارات مناهضة للنظام على جدار مدرستهم، والتي كانت بداية الانتفاضة السورية. ورد في بعض المصادر باسم عاطف حاج نجيب. تشير بعض المصادر لتورطه في صفقات فساد عبر شركة الاستيراد والتصدير التي يملكها صحبة أخيه عمار نجيب الذي يعمل في المخابرات العسكرية. فرضت عليه العقوبات الأمريكية في 29/04/2011. فرضت عليه العقوبات الأوروبية في 09/05/2011 شملته العقوبات البريطانية في 10/05/2011

Atef Najib was the former Head of the Political Security branch of Daraa. The EU imposed sanctions on Atef Najib for his involvement in the violence against demonstrators during the Syrian uprising. The Syrian opposition accuses Atef Najib of insulting a group of Daraa City notables and representatives who came to demand the release of some children who had written anti-regime statements on their school wall. This incident sparked the Syrian uprising. Some sources listed his name as Atef Hajj Najib. Sources also indicated his involvement in corrupt deals through the import-export company co-owned by him and his brother Ammar Najib who works in Military Intelligence. The US sanctioned him on 29 April 2011, the EU on 9 May 2011, and the UK on 10 May 2011.
