It has further been involved in the purchase of aluminum tubes and other equipment specifically suitable for a uranium enrichment program from the late 1990s. Its representative is a former diplomat who served as DPRK’s representative for the IAEA inspection of the Yongbyon nuclear facilities in 2007. Namchongang est une société d'import-export de la RPDC qui relève du General Bureau of Atomic Energy (GBAE — Bureau général de l'énergie atomique). Elle a participé à l'achat des pompes à vide d'origine japonaise identifiées dans une centrale nucléaire du pays, ainsi qu'à des achats en rapport avec l'industrie nucléaire par l'intermédiaire d'un ressortissant allemand. Paragraph 157 (p. 56) in the UN Panel of Experts February 2017 report states: "A Member State identified Taeryonggang as an alias of Namchongang and designated it on 2 December 2016. The Panel confirmed through a comparison of both letterheads that Taeryonggang shares telephone and fax numbers with Namchongang". In the UN consolidated list of sanctions, Namchongang Trading Corporation's telephone numbers are listed as "+850-2-18111, 18222 (ext. 8573)". In an amendment to the list of designated entities (SC/14983) by the UN Security Council 1718 Sanctions Committee, an alias of Namchongang Trading Corporation is listed as 'Korea Tearyonggang Trading Corporation', which appears to be an alternate spelling of the known company alias 'Korea Taeryonggang Trading Corporation'.
